In order to help you in the best way possible, we at Home Physio Group treat each patient individually, according to their personal stories.
We come across many clients in their homes who struggle with their mobility. As physiotherapists, we analyse walking patterns to determine where the abnormality lies and what could be the cause of the complaint.
The cause could be neurological such as from a stroke, Multiple Sclerosis or Parkinson’s Disease where the messages to the limbs from the brain are affected. Alternatively, it could be a musculoskeletal cause, which can result from imbalanced soft tissue, bony abnormalities or joint alignment. Sometimes it could be both neurological and musculoskeletal factors impacting on movement.
If you have injured part of your body, such as your knee for example, your body may try to protect itself by not moving it as much. Your body develops a compensation strategy by making other parts of the body work harder, and often it is the other leg taking the strain!
Your physiotherapist can work with you to improve your gait pattern, or identify problems, which may be responsible for any aches, or pains. Could it be weakness, stiffness, poor core strength? Our physiotherapists are specialists in gait rehabilitation.
