How we can help
As we get older and become increasingly frail, we may be anxious about falling. This fear can have an impact on you as well as your loved ones. There are a number of factors contributing to being at a higher risk of falling, including poor mobility, taking certain medications, and being in an environment that may be increasingly challenging to manage.
Our physiotherapists will support you by providing professional advice. They will also implement a personalised, enjoyable, and supervised exercise programme that is adapted to the right intensity for optimum results.
Our method
To improve your anxiety and fear of falling your physiotherapist will:
- Assess your problems, help create achievable goals, and select a suitable treatment programme
- Assess your balance reaction and coordination and give you exercises accordingly
- Check if any restricted joint movement is impacting your mobility and therefore putting you at a higher risk of falling
- Determine if your walking aids are the most suitable for you and that you are using them properly
- Review your home environment for trip hazards
- Assess you on the stairs and offer advice and suggestions to help you manage
- Look at how you perform your daily activities and note if there are any tasks you especially struggle with
Our top tips to help improve your confidence:
- Keep as active as you possibly can
- Carry out your physio home programme as often as possible
