As car owners, we all know that once a year our car gets a full MOT check, to ensure that it is running smoothly, roadworthy and to catch any issues that could cause problems later in the year. A body MOT is very much the same, and just as important. All our bodies deserve our full attention at all times and having a body MOT regularly will keep you on track to stay fit and healthy and get the most out of it as you can, making your life happier and easier in many ways.
What is a body MOT?
A body MOT done by a doctor is designed to find certain markers that relate to your health, which can include investigations for diabetes, cholesterol, stroke risks, heart and liver problems, arthritis, hormone imbalances and so on.
It gives you as the patient who can be asymptomatic the opportunity to find health issues early, and the earlier many conditions are found, the easier it is to treat.
A body MOT done by a physiotherapist is a fantastic opportunity to assess your physical health, including the health of your joints, strength, balance, agility and cardiovascular fitness. After assessing each of the above your physiotherapist will tell you which areas need improvement and how to improve them. They will then tell you which are normal, better than normal or need to improve and will give you realistic advice on how to work on problem areas.
What can I expect from my appointment?
All our physiotherapists at Home Physio Group are highly skilled and members of the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council). During your first session they will take you through a range of tests and examinations so they can check your range of motion, posture, core, strength, ligaments, muscles, and cardiovascular system. If any issues arise from their examination, they will discuss it in further detail with you and will give you a tailor-made programme.
If you feel you would like to discuss or book a full body health MOT with us, please do contact us on 0330 335 1016, or alternatively, please fill out the contact sheet, and we will get in touch with you.
